Something has been bugging me: over the past week, I've heard no fewer than a half dozen instances of one person telling another that if they want to make a profit from their art (painting, drawing, writing, music), and if it's not enough for them to make what they make because they are called to it (or for the love of it, depending on if you're operating in Christian or secular circles) then they aren't a "real" artist.
